Gentlemen, I just finished taking a stab at providing us shareholders with a more reasonable prediction of the volume of earth contained in the Zona Central IP anomaly. Because of its irregular shape, using the formula of a half sphere is to coarse of a volume estimate and I am of the opinion that it is more accurate to look at the actual shape of the anomaly and then calculate its volume.
Below are the steps I've taken to provide a more reasonable measure of its volume.
- The anomaly shape was geo-referenced and traced.
- The anomaly was broken down into 5 layers at 260m depth divisions.
- Each layer was gridded and the volume was then calculated using the extended trapezoidal rule.
- The 5 layer volumes were summed to give a total volume of 4,660,411,803 m3.
Using a specific volume of 2.5m3/ton of rock, we get 11,651,029,505 tons.
The Math:
4,660,411,802m3 X 2.5 ton/m3 X 5g/ton (assuming a higher grade within the anomaly) X 1 Oz/31.1g
= 1,877 Million OZ
