Message: Vilcoro

Did some digging last night on Google earth to find the closest mines to the Vilcoro. I found the mine Comarsa, owned by a private family. This mine is along strike with the Vilcoro and is listed as a multi million ounce mine. There is very limited info about this mine and I was unable to get an average gold grade. It is located about 12 miles to the nnw of the Vilcoro and appears to be an open pit mine. There is cloud cover on Google Earth in a straight line between Vilcoro and Comarsa, so it is possible there is another mine in between, but you just couldn,t see through the clouds.

The geology at the mine is very interesting and easy to see from the air. The deposit is sitting on what appears to be the east side of a nice fault. There is clear evidence of upthrusting there that has brought the deposit closer to the surface and most likely plate tectonics did this. This would make this a very favourable area for mineral deposits. We are on the same upthrust as this big mine and along trend, putting no doubt in my mind that the Vilcoro should also be an economic deposit, once defined.
