12:42 Workers’ income in Lima increased 9% in March–May
  • Lima, Jun. 16 (ANDINA). During the March-May rolling quarter of 2011, the average monthly income of workers in Metropolitan Lima was S/. 1,159.4, up 9 percent compared to the same period a year before, Peru’s National Statistics Institute (INEI) said Wednesday.

    Men’s income was S/. 4,352.4, a 9.3 percent increase compared to the same quarter a previous year.

    Meanwhile, women’s income rose 8.2 percent to
    S/. 906.1.

    It is worth mentioning that women’s average income in the current quarter represents 67 percent of men’s, with a difference of 446.3 soles.

    According to age, the higher increase of average monthly income occurred in those between the ages 45 and over (10.6 percent), followed by those between 14 and 24 years old (9.7 percent), and 25 and 44 years old (7.7 percent).
