Lima, Sep. 19 (ANDINA). Peru's mining exports amounted to 15.5 billion dollars between January and July 2011, an increase of 32.5 percent compared to the same period last year, said on Monday Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MEM).
Copper leads exports with 6.2 billion dollars, a 32.3 percent jump compared to the same period in 2010, becoming Peru’s most important export product.
Copper export volume totaled 696,400 metric tons (MT), a decrease of 1.1 percent from the 703,800 metric tons registered in the same period in 2010.
Gold exports ranked in second place with exports worth 5.3 billion dollars, jumping 20.7 percent compared to 2010 (4.4 billion dollars).
Moreover, lead exports amounted to 1.3 billion dollars (77.2 percent up from last year), while zinc also increased 983 million dollars to total 627,200 MT.
