One round-trip economy class to Lima, Peru from Edmonton or Vancouver is around $2,500. Travel to/from the Tesoro site, and support costs while staying there would be -- easily -- $7,500 per person for just a 2 or 3 day trip. Think of it -- hiring trucks and personel, hauling water and food, hiring guards, etc.
This is not a trip to a convention, with a stay at a Howard Johnson. We have multiple personnel, some stationed for weeks at a time, in a remote mountaintop in the middle of a third-world country... Every scrap of food and water, and all other personal incidentals must be obtained, transported and then carted out. This is all "Travel" costs.
So, $800,000/$10,000 == 80 person-trips. I could see this, just for the Tesoro! Of course, this covers all the other travel costs for all the other properties, plus all the trips to Europe, Asia and the US...
This amount seems totally reasonable, to me.
