Barrick and Newmont etc. didn't get to be billion dollar companies by being careless. They have their own requirements to decide upon gold estimates. They will likely tell SLI what they need to make their decision on a buyout offer. The less information you have then the lower the bid. That much more incentive to have a good resource estimate.
