I doubt it will play out this way. This is a public company and what we would likely see is a tender offer. I for one would not want the mine sold as a "lot" then leave it to someone else to determine my dividend. Beside it is much cleaner to spin it of a separate entity much like subdividing your lots then transferring title. I think this would have more realizeable gains and still leave other properties in the company for anther potential upside.
The other piece that I have not seen much discussion about is the development cost. We could have the mother load here worth $100 billion, but if it costs $100 billion and 10 to get it out it is worth nothing.
I understand the mine would be in a remote part of the mountains in a high plain and I do not claim to know how much it cost to build a mine but I would guess it would cost many times more in the mine location than say North Battleford.....
At the end of the day Lori will decide and hopefully we will all benefit.
