Sorry, but I am new to this investing and TFSA's, however I am now a little confused on the TFSA account, I opened my TFSA this year to invest in SLI, and when I opened the account, the bank lady said I could put $15000.00 in safely without being taxed.(which was $5000 per year since 2009) I asked her if I put in my max $15000.00 and invested in a stock, and that stock happened to sky rocket, would I be taxed on the earnings from that stock? she said no, that stock could sky rocket to a million dollars and it would all be tax free as long as I myself didn't put in over 15000.00 of my own, or over 5000.00 per year. So is that how the TFSA works, or will I be taxed on anything over $15,000.00 in the account, or $20,000 after Jan 01 2012? The lady at the bank that helped me open my account didn't seem real familiar with TFSA accounts, and couldn't even get my Rural address in the computer. She even started to tell me I had to have a municipal address to open the account as the system didn't accept Rural addresses. anyhow, I hope someone can clarify this for me. I hope the bank lady knew what she was saying, otherwise I think I'll be paying alot of taxes once SLI pays off. SLI LONG! Thank you very much.
