Message: Possible miss in first set of drill holes on the anomaly?

REB, I disagree with you 200% and know that you cannot say that with conviction. I don,t know what type of positioning device is used on the Tesoro for marking the drill locations, but ,there is room for error in any of these devices. Solar storms, heavy cloud cover/precipitation,satelite coverage ,something as simple as a low power supply, magnetics of the area,ie, heavy iron/sulphide deposition, etc.

I will tell you a little story that happened to me when prospecting.

A few years ago I was prospecting a remote area that I or very few were most likely ever in before. My preparation consisted of copying several google earth images with UTM and long/lat coordinates drawn on them by me, a compass and a brand new battery in my Garmin etrex Legend GPS. My intentions were to make a complete circle of an area which would have a diameter of approx 2 miles. It was a completely overcast day, no wind, with a light skiff of snow on the ground. I am an experienced woodsman and very seldom get turned around and become unsure when in new territory, but have a couple of times when it became close to dark, nevertheless, I always found my way out without the use of a compass or GPS.These couple of lost times happened when I was fishing and hunting on familiar ground. And, like the saying, I made complete circles both times arriving back at, or close to my point of origin. I believe the theory that one leg is longer than the other, to account for this. This day I was prospecting, I need these tools, so I carried them.

Anyhow, I put my GPS on track, in my shoulder coat pocket so that the antenna had an unobstructed view of the sky with good satelite coverage. I followed my Google Earth maps for approx 1/3 the circumference of the planned circle marking a couple of spots along the way, even though they didn,t look quite right on the GPS.. At that time, about 1 hour into my journey, I discovered that my GPS was not working properly and that it appeared my brand new battery had nearly died, or was not good to start with. So, I couldn,t use it anymore, tucked it away, and relied on the faithful Google Earth image maps to guide me, and continued on.

I had a good day, found some veins, then some ceric salts/uranium, or at least thats what I took it to be. That ended my day right there, because there is a moratorium on uranium mining or any other mining here that would disturb uranium. I was looking for gold.

It was getting late, a little snow started falling, so I decided to take a short cut straight to my truck through a swampy area with thickets, I figured I had about 3/4 of a mile to go. I knew where I was at and knew I had to go east to hit my vehicle or the woods road that I was parked at the end of. I took a compass bearing and proceeded, holding the compass in my hand, checking it constantly. I would follow outcrop when I could, and in this area, most outcrop run in a nw/se direction, BUT, I was following my compass and the outcrop seemed to be changing direction. I knew there was evidence of faulting in the area and just attributed that to things just being displaced. At this time there was about an inch of snow on the ground and as I kept following my compass, it didn,t feel like I was going in the right direction. Then all of a sudden I came across another persons track! My first thought was, who would be a way in here? My second thought was to put my boot print beside thia new bootprint for comparrison. It was my print and I had just gone in a ~200-300 yard circle by following my compass. My maps were wet and useless at this point , from the wet snow, and I knew I couldn,t trust the compass in this area as well. So, I followed the outcrop, believing it ran south east, and by using my instinct, I found my truck getting very close to dark.

The battery may have not been good in the GPS, BUT, where the compass became unreliable as well in that area, I suspect whatever minerals were present, was responsible for killing the battery in my GPS and screwing up the compass. If it was iron responsible for drawing my compass, I wonder if it could also interfere with the GPS some way, that it drained its power? If a strong enough iron sulphide deposit could do this to a GPS, maybe there was a high built up charge in the sulphides, if present? I don,t know, but we do know that there are high sulphide percentages present on the Tesoro, maybe a GPS could get affected there as well, if this is what happened to me. I don,t know, just saying that sometimes, strange things happen.

IMO
