Message: Here' s the numbers if we get $300/ounce in a bidding war or even $700/ounce!

"After reading a few posts which seemed to imply I was way too low in pricing ( and presuming the majors would go into a frenzy in a bidding war) I am posting the numbers (approx.) at what some of our posters think are more realistic. Wow! do I hope they are right. JW"

With all due respect, no one is taking into account the cost of discovery. According to MinEx consulting, the forcasted cost of discovery going forward beyond 2010 is $30/oz. Average discovery costs in Latin America are around $23. These costs are part of being realisitic and should be considered.

JW's numbers below represent buy-out prices based on the SLI's present share structure as if they already have these reserves. They do not. The costs of defining a viable deposit are significant and will result in dilution to the share structure. If you take the current Latin American average into account, for SLI to discover 100mil oz, it will likely cost upward of 2.3 billion dollars. Even if discovery costs were as low as $5/oz, that's still half a billion dollars worth of paper that has to be sold to define a deposit that size.

For those of you still speculating an imminent buy-out: the same presentation reports that the average elapsed time between a discovery hole and a maiden resource estimate is 3.7years and it takes 5 to 20 years to go from discovery to production. With all due respect to everyone here, but SLI does not have a discovery hole yet and you're talking about buy-outs in the 300-700/oz range for 3 - 100m/oz. Wouldn't it be prudent to wait for at least 1 good hole before speculating on majors going into a bidding war?

Here's the numbers if a buyer pays approx. $300.00/ounce per SLI share!

@100,000,000 ounces total=$226/share

@50,000,000=$112/share

@25,000,000=$56/share

@12,500,000=$28.00/share

@6,250,000=$14.00/share

@3,125,000=$7.0/share

And at $700/ounce

@100,000,000 ounces total= $527/share

50,000,000=$264/share

25,000,000=$132/share

12,500,000= $66.00/share

6,250,000=$33/share

3,125,000=$16.5 share
