I remember that because it seemed odd to me. I was under the impression the 3 1500m holes were to be used to drill for the source and the shallow drilling to cover 600m down and to partially prove up the main ovoid. I also remember it being mentioned that when enough information is available to warrant deep drilling..that is when they will bring them on site if and when necessary.
