I thought some may find this interesting where bolded. Its about how the locals were picking up gold bearing rock to take to the plants to sell while the first exploration work was going on by SLI.
Except for one report by Minera Reliance del Peru S.A.C, reliable data on the
Tesoro property is not available. Obviously, considering the quantity of pits that
were mapped during the present campaign (Figure 2), the presence of goldbearing
quartz veins has been known for some time. And even while the
exploration work which is the subject of this report was taking place, there were
three groups of informales (about ten people altogether) bagging auriferous vein
material for processing at nearby plants. Most of the informales working on the
property were from Otapara, and all were more than pleased to discontinue
activities in return for employment during exploration and assurances that, if future
development took place, they would be first on the hiring list.
