Amanda Lang, CBC, has aired a great introduction documentary on corruption and the markets. Its an excellent introduction to corruption and how it affects you in some of the ways. This is only the surface, a lifting of the veil, if you will, of how the whole financial system works and how the little guys are slaves to the system, even those that don,t invest or play in the markets, anyone with a pension, is affected.
I like her comment near the end, "stand up", and it represents and describes exactly, us. I believe it can also be considered as a call to action, by those that were afraid to stand up, or take the time to stand up in the past. Look at your mothers or grandmothers old age security or other government pensions, look at the amount, ask yourself how comes she receives a pension that is border line poverty, or perhaps below, while a politicians equivalent is many times more? Some politicians are eligible for yearly disability pensions in the triple digits, while the maximum yearly for a common person, is around $15,000.
Keep in mind, that media have many resources, yes, even contacts in Peru, when needed. There are undercover investigative journalists world wide, and all these journalists need sometimes, is just a tip. If they are interested, sometimes you will not hear a peep while they investigate their own way and utilize there own resources. The bigger the story and more complex, sometimes, the longer it takes to surface, whereas all aspects of a story have to be ascertained, to comply and enjoy with certain laws of slander and lible, if proof is provided, then there is little merit for any litigation against media.
Her story certainly depicts what we have been experiencing, to a small degree, but will undoubtedly expand on subjects that will more fully encompass the important issues we have been involved with, mainly the non action by government and regulators. How far the Canadian government let Amanda go on reporting the truth, remains to be seen, but so far she is only touching the tip of the iceberg. She will and may encounter censorship, if she hasn,t already to a degree, but I don,t think anyone will stop her from speaking and presenting her truth. This is only a part of the beginning.
