Since we have claims at Beaverdell and nearby Carmi I thought I'd post this news article. For those of you that aren't quite up on the lore of this region, Beaverdell is a small (pop 100+/-) mining town in south central BC. From the turn of the century to the 90s, silver was mined from Wallace Mountain that lies to the east of town. The Highland Bell was the major employer there until they stopped in 91. The Beaverdell Hotel was famous in that region. Highway 33 from Kelowna to Boundary Country is a beautiful stretch of road for a summer motorcycle ride. So you have miners, bikers, a bar and at least a 35 minute drive from the nearest RCMP detachment. Need I say more. Sad to see it go. By the way that's Wallace Mountain in the background.
The historic Beaverdell Hotel went up in flames early Monday morning. No one is believed to have been injured. (Photo: Contributed - Blair Jardine)
