CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - March 8, 2007) -

Torch River Resources Ltd. ("Torch")(TSX VENTURE:TCR) announces
that on March 7, 2007 that the Board of Directors approved the issuance
of 600,000 share options to certain directors and officers of Torch at an exercise price of $0.16 per share. The options have a term that ends on March 7, 2012 and vest immediately.

Torch is a company listed and trading on the TSX Venture Exchange,
symbol: TCR.
