Stormtrooper, thanks for stopping by. Don’t the door hit your behind on the way out.
For those of us who are committed to UC for the long run, I believe the news that they’re able to meet the metallurgical recovery rate targets at La Yesca is the most “bullish” news in a long while. The recovery rates were the key hurdle in preventing UC from generating the cash flow they hoped for in 2007. IF, and it’s a big if, they are able to properly configure their equipment at La Yesca, and start generating cash flow in the next few months, the fortune of this company would turn dramatically. There would no longer be the need for additional financing to fund their obligations and drilling program at James Bay, as well as having the cash to fund their drilling program at Copalquin, which had one of the best hole in 2006 in case most people here are not aware.
People give Hamelin a hard time, and justifiably so, for his failed prediction of 700t/day by the end of 2007, and boasting to be Mexico’s next gold producer early 2007. But without Hamelin, UC would not be part of the James Bay story at all. I’m not trying to defend his short comings. I’m just simply stating the fact that he did have some unexpected contribution to UC.
And at today’s price, my bet is that the stock price would be higher in 6 months. That’s why, despite holding this stock since 2006, I bought more yesterday.
