Hmmm...Not sure about that, but here is a piece from Gary's Article:
"Second is the development of 3D photovoltaics (3D-PV). 3 – Dimensional PV allows for an increase of power production of up to 30 times per footprint and much lower electronics cost as well as an overall simplification of the PV system."
