Snake, you may be wondering about YBG-2000, and what makes it so effective. I figured I would tell you a little more, just to ease your mind as you consider the serious threat of an H5N1 Avian influenza pandemic.

YBG-2000 is a ``non-specific immunopotentiator``. That means that unlike vaccinations that are directed at a specific virus, YBG-2000 boosts the immune system in a generalized way, allowing the body to fight off whatever viral infection (like swine flu) comes along. That means that instead of there being a need for a specific vaccination for each virus strain that poses a threat (yes, H5N1 is just one of many) poultry can be treated with just one non-specific immunopotentiator that will boost the immune system and aid the body in fighting off all viral threats.

Since Beta glucan boosts the immune system, YBG-2000 has been effective in combating the effects of Necrotic Entritis (a sometimes severe bacterial infection that can wipe out entire flocks), Salmonella (we all know what that is), and E.Coli respiatory infections. These are all bacterial infections that have traditionally been treated or prevented with antibiotics, because they are a serious threat to commercial poultry production. The good news is that BioAgra is about to start production of YBG-2000 (AGRASTIM) an effective immune system enhancer that eliminates the need to administer antibiotics to fight these infections.

YBG ``provides an improved and more efficient method for the purification of Beta glucan, mannan and manno-protein complexes or immuno-potentiating substances, directly from yeast. In addition, (YBG) provides methods for the production of Beta glucan, mannan and manno-proteins for use in animal feed to (1) prepare and enhance the immune system to fight infections more effectively and efficiently, (2) increase resistance to and decrease duration of bacterial and viral infections, (3) allow producers to reduce or remove ``growth promotion antibiotics`` in feed systems, thus producing more naturally grown animals, (4) reduce or prevent the negative growth response normally associated with administration of live vaccines to animals and (5) other associated health benefits such as in the case of swine of increased piglet litter size and survivability for piglets after weaning when Sows fed this novel Beta glucan extract.``
