Aggressively exploring for mineral deposits in Ontario, Canada
ABITIBI MINING CORP. is aggressively exploring for mineral deposits in Ontario, Canada. Target minerals include gold & uranium. The company's focus is on its Tannahill, Redhat, and Centrefire Lake properties. Tannahill has emerged as a highly prospective exploration target for Abitibi Mining Corporation. The property is favorably situated 16 km south of the past-producing Holloway and Holt-McDermott gold mines and can be reached by road from Kirkland Lake, 35 km to the southwest.
The Redhat property, located in Webb, Lomond and McIlraith Townships is approximately 36 km northeast of Dryden, Ontario. Mafic and felsic volcanics with interflow sediments occur on the property. Limited historical drilling has intersected disseminated, stringer and bedded massive pyrite and pyrrhotite (iron sulphides) mineralization. Of particular interest is a 5 foot unit of bedded pyrite-sericite tuff that is reported to assay 0.04 ounces silver and 0.07 ounces gold per ton. Anomalous gold and silver mineralization within a bedded unit is unusual and may indicate the potential for larger and higher grade bedded gold mineralization similar to a Hemlo type of deposit.
The property is accessible by road. Abitibi plans to complete compilation work on the property, locate the historical drill holes, and explore the favourable bedded pyrite sericite tuff horizon by prospecting, geochemistry and geophysics prior to trenching and drilling.
Centre Fire Lake is the second of Abitibi Mining premier properties. The property is located in Lomond and McIlraith Townships, Patricia Mining Division, approximately 38 km northeast of Dryden, Ontario and is accessible by road.
