Despite the fact that Barrick has made comments to the effect that they would not be interested in Ecuador I've had feedback that they have in fact been obtaining land in Ecuador.
A while back when I questioned Barrick's IR dept (Jim Mavor) directly regarding persuing Ecuador property he told me
" We are doing exploration in Ecuador, but have not purchased any concessions.
All work is being done by option agreements with the land owner."
and then there was Wilkin's recent quote...
"It's a non-starter to invest in a country that takes your mine away from you," said Mr Wilkins.
hmmmm
is someone lieing?
Funny, they both work for Barrick.
