The lost western zone

I was wondering about them not finding the western faulted zone. Is it possible it was subducted beneath FDN? I'm imagining a scenario where the pull-apart basin forms, then the western zone drops, then some time later a counter force develops to partially close the basin with the western zone being overrun by FDN. I don't know enough geology to say if this is likely, or even possible. Anyone care to comment?
