this from El Comercio, but google did such a hack of it, and I'm so tired, I'll just post the important parts then go to bed. (it's been a very long day)
OK, the resignation is confirmed, and the reason given was:
His resignation was caused by disagreements with President Rafael Correa and other leaders of Country Agreement, around the time limit for the Assembly to deliver the text of the new Constitution
and....
In a press conference, Acosta revealed that the Political Bureau of Country Agreement withdrew their confidence, believing that he was not the right person to lead the House in the last five weeks of activities.
further on....
At 20:30, in a press conference, confirmed that the list was 35 in favor of Cordero...........second most voted Assemblyman national list of the official September 30. The first was Acosta.
Cordero, a former mayor of Cuenca and former MP for Azuay, is one of the tables with greater vehemence that has maintained that it is possible that the Assembly delivers the Constitution on July 26. That conviction was reiterated last night, after it was introduced by the Political Bureau of the list 35.
'kay.. whatever
and finally,
Cordero has already outlined the pattern to be followed by the Assembly to meet that deadline. He said the House should meet Monday through Saturday. The idea is that each meeting would last four hours, and in them they would expedite all items that were unapproved, which could reach 500, as Cordero announced.
OMG!!! We have to come in on Saturday???!!! And actually work 4 hours a day?!!! No wonder they've had trouble finishing the damn thing. What the hell is wrong with these people? I know it's hot down there, but surely they have air conditioning? Aw man, I'm losing it. Off to bed for this bear cub.
