Sorry, to hear about your bout with the Hot Hersey Squirts in Mexico....

I have a "points" time share that my wife and I used to go to Cabo and Cancun, but we stayed at some really fine 5 star resorts....so we had nothing but great memories of our trips.

I don't try to cheapen out too much in foreign countries, for just the reasons that you gave!

I also learned from my stint in the Navy that you only drink coke or beers for fluids when you don't know if the water or foods are safe.in the country that you're visiting...even brush you teeth with them!

The resorts we stayed at made their own purified water with reverse osmosis filters, so you could drink from their taps, and not be afraid if you got water in your mouth while showering! That was very reassuring!
