Michael Young
CEO & Director
Mr. Young is co-founder of CFS and has extensive experience working with companies as an independent consultant by providing services and direction for corporate development in the areas of finance, marketing, implementation of business strategies and public relations.
From June 2005 to July 2006, he was Director and Corporate Secretary for Stream Communications Network & Media Inc., a cable company and was responsible for Corporate Development and Public Relations for Stream since October 2000. During his time with Stream the company grew from start up to 65,000 subscribers and raised over 15 million USD by way of private debt and equity to accomplish growth objectives.
Mr. Young has over 13 years experience working as a financial advisor, while providing investment strategies and solutions to individual and corporate clients. He is a graduate of the Certified Financial Planning Education Program from the Financial Advisors Association of Canada and studied Business Administration at the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
Stan Lis
President & Director
Mr. Lis is President and Co-Founder of CFS. From January 2000 to August 2005 Mr. Lis was President, CEO & Director of Stream Communications Network & Media Inc., a cable company, where he was directly responsible for taking the company from start up to 60,000 subscribers. From 1993 to 2000 he was President, CEO & Director of Trooper Technologies Inc., an environmental company focused on waste management in Central Europe. During his time with these two companies Mr. Lis personally raised over 30 million USD.
In the early 1980’s, Mr. Lis gained significant experience in the field of corporate finance while employed by Allcorp Corporation, a Vancouver based holding company with stakes in more than 60 operating subsidiaries. During the term of his employment at Allcorp the group raised 1 billion (US) in refinancing operations for companies within its portfolio.
In 1988, Mr. Lis founded International UNP Holdings, an investment company that was used to acquire and finance privatised Polish state enterprises. During his term as President, Mr. Lis personally raised the first 7 million (US) out of the 30 million (US) that UNP Holdings eventually raised for joint ventures in Poland.
Mr. Lis was educated in Poland and immigrated to Canada in 1976. He attended Simon Fraser University where he studied business administration and securities.
Mr. Hari B. Varshney
CFO & Director
Mr. Varshney, a Chartered Accountant (Fellow of the ICABC), has been involved in raising over $150 million for various venture capital projects around the world. He has been in the venture capital business since 1985 and during this period has been a director and/or officer of many public companies trading on various North American exchanges. He has also been very actively involved in the community and supported various charitable projects for over 25 years. He is the past Chair of St. Paul's Hospital Foundation, and a former director of Canada India Village Aid Association (CIVA) and College of Denturists of BC and a director of the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Varshney was also one of the 2006 British Columbia Achievement Awardrecipients.
Steve Clark, M.Sc.
VP Operations
Steve is currently designing and directing afforestation projects that benefit local communities and biodiversity, while sequestering carbon to offset effects of greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Throughout his career, he has directed and supported many small and large environmental and community infrastructure projects in British Columbia, Northwest Territories, and across the United States. Steve is a Certified Ecologist (Ecological Society of America), Registered Professional Biologist (British Columbia), and principal scientist at Marine West Ecology. He has 25 years experience in environmental consulting and management, which has including the development of ecosystem management plans for federal agencies in Canada and the U.S., which evaluated multiple and complex land use issues and ecosystem processes and services. Steve has also designed and implemented surveys for rare and sensitive species at federal facilities in British Columbia and across the U.S., and he has provided recommendations to avoid adverse environmental effects and conserve ecosystem assets.
Dave Driedger, B.S.A.
Director
Mr. Driedger is co-founder of Carbon Friendly Solutions Inc. and has over 30 years experience as an independent business owner. He is currently President and founder of Awsum Corporation an investment company providing investment capital, consulting services and growth strategies to various companies and ventures. In 1976 Mr. Driedger founded Fairview Photo a private company that grew to be an industry leader prior to being sold in 2003. Mr. Driedger graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a degree in Agriculture.
Slawomir Smulewicz
Director
Mr. Smulewicz has over 15 years of experience as an independent businessman and is a significant shareholder of the Company. He controls and serves on the Board of several private consulting and construction companies in Europe. Mr. Smulewicz graduated from the Warsaw University of Life Science (SGGW) Warsaw, Poland, with a Masters Degree in Agriculture and Business Administration.
