Well, as previously mentioned, it took Inpex about 4 months to report one of their previous strikes back in Oct 2010. There is no upside for them to report now. It will not affect their shareholders as they are too big of a company. On the downside, it would inject life into CGX stock making the price rise and making it more expensive for them to joint venture with CGX if they are interested. Furthermore, I think these majors are trying to starve CGX. They are probably hoping that CGX does not hit on their initial holes, defaults on their concessions because they can not generate the money to drill and then one of the majors will pick up the conession for nothing.

That said, probably a more prudent strategy would be to let CGX dangle for a while, miss their first hole and then get a joint venture at a really good price for the major.

In either situation, Inpex has nothing to gain and something to lose by reporting. I suspect they will report AFTER CGX reports about their Eagle Shallow play but probably only after reaching target depth. Alternatively, if CGX hits at Eagle Eocene and reports before TD, then Inpex will probably report soon after.
