MANAGEMENT

Donald R. (Don) Gardner is the Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining the Company in January 2003, Don was Executive Vice President and CFO of Canadian 88 Energy Corp from 1999 until 2002, Senior Vice President and CFO of Rigel Energy Corporation from 1991 until 1999 and Treasurer of Alberta Energy Company Ltd. for two years. Don has over 30 years of financial experience in the Canadian conventional oil and gas industry and serves on the Board of Directors of several public companies. He is a member of Financial Executives International.

Phillip D. C. (Phil) Geiger, B.Sc., P.Eng is the President and Chief Operating Officer. He is a professional engineer with over 25 years of varied oil and gas experience. After graduating from the University of Alberta in 1980 with a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Phil joined Suncor Energy, Inc. and was involved with all aspects of oil & gas engineering (production, reservoir and facilities) prior to becoming part of Suncor’s first natural gas marketing group in 1986. In 1992 Phil joined the planning and analysis group as Senior Planner and three years later he was District Manager of Suncor’s Fort St. John production office. In 1997 Phil moved back to Calgary as Manager, Business Development for Suncor.

Dean G. Hill, BComm CA, is the Vice President, Finance. Dean, a Chartered Accountant, holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta and brings to CSRI a depth of financial and accounting experience in the oil & gas, heavy equipment and financial services industries. Prior to joining CSRI, Dean was VP, Finance & Administration for a private heavy equipment supplier with cross border operations. Other experience included roles as Compliance Manager with an accounting & consulting firm, and Financial Controller of a multi-national natural resource/financial company. Dean achieved his CA designation in Alberta followed by extensive audit and consulting assignments in the oil & gas industry as well as in the financial services industry, both in Calgary and internationally.

Randolph H. (Randy) Karst, B.Sc., P. Geol. is the Exploration Manager. Randy graduated in 1974 with a B.Sc. in geology from the University of Alberta. He has 30 years of coal exploration in positions held at the British Columbia Ministry of Energy and Mines, BHP International, Manalta Coal and Met-Chem Canada. Randy has also advised Luscar Ltd., Smokey River Coal, Cardinal River Coal, Line Creek Coal and Rio Alto Exploration on various projects.

Paul A. Smolarchuk. B.Sc., P.Eng. CET is the Operations Manager. Paul is a professional petroleum engineer with more than 25 years of varied experience in the petroleum industry in Western Canada and Canada’s East Coast Offshore. He is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in Chemical Technology and of the University of Alberta with a B.Sc.(Eng) in Petroleum Engineering. Having worked with a major Canadian Oil and Gas Producer as well with a major International Service Company Paul is familiar with most aspects of Drilling, Production, Exploitation and Reservoir Engineering. His primary expertise is in the area of well stimulation technologies and has been involved with Canadian unconventional gas development since 1985.
