"a sound company"

It means a "solid" or a "good" company. I'm not sure where the phrase came from, but in English there is the phrase "safe and sound" which usually gets applied after a person gets rescued successfully from a dangerous situation, and has branched out to broader contexts in the past several decades.

It has nothing to do with audio or acoustics or noise.
