" I thought if the shorters were covering ,that would mean they are buying ,unless they have a way to drive down the price before buying their covers"
They do have a way and they're using it very effectively. It's simple and they did it yesterday when the price dropped to $1.55 clearing out all the stop losses. If you check out level 2 the bids are now down to $1.00 ( 47k). All they have to do is walk the SP down by purchasing small lots, which triggers stop losses and panic selling, then scoop up the cheap shares to cover. I strongly believe that the same institutions are just buying and shorting at the same time. Shorting a stock on a large scale is very profitable, especially if you intend to accumulate that stock. CLL is a good company and they know it.Shorting it, especially now, allows them to make a killing and accumulate at bargain basement prices..
