The inmates are running the asylum
Now with President Obama printing money like it's for a Monopoly game, giving it away to the most irresponsible, the state of Illinois wants to take more taxes back from the people. Does this make sense, in this environment, to hand out money with one hand, and take it back with the other?
What really irks me, is they are talking about raising gasoline taxes. This after recent rumors the government wants to suspend sales taxes on new car purchases. The governent thinks we're too dependent on oil, yet want to make it more painful for us to purchase gasoline to drive to work, to pay for their fiscal irresponsibility. Citizens have realized a small relief in the form of lower fuel prices, but now will have to see their prices rise from additional taxes. The politicians need to stop spending more than they make, just as we have to do at home.
Sorry if this is slightly off topic, just seems like complete lunacy. A year ago everyone was complaining about the high prices of gasoline, now they want to raise taxes on it. If we can't afford gasoline, are we supposed to teleport to work? grrrrrrr
"House Speaker Michael Madigan will support a proposal to raise the existing 19-cent-per-gallon motor fuel tax to 27 cents—a boost that could raise $500 million a year to fund bond payments on a $5.9 billion transportation repair plan, a Madigan spokesman said."
