JACOS is a private company in Japan. It is not on the TSX. I was wondering if any members of the board are engineers who worked on the JACOS project or if you know anyone on the inside to provide other information such as SOR's, production cost per bbl of bitumen, etc.
I did the comparison on JACOS to show the similarities and the differences. For example JACOS produces 50% of its own natural gas for the project whereas many honourable members on the Connacher board were opposed to Connacher buying its own natural gas resources years ago (LUKE ). JACOS's production seems to have reached its peak average at 8,000 bbl/d of bitumen during its 10 year life from 19 horizontal wellpairs even though it is legally permitted to produce 11,000 bbl/d. 2Crude alluded to the fact that most of the SAGD projects in Alberta have not reached their licensed capacity and JACOS is an example of one. JACOS is partnered with NEXEN while Connacher has a minor partnership arrangement only at Halfway Creek with AOS but is going it alone on everything else.
JACOS and Connacher are both seeking approval for their EIA expansions at approximately the same time, and both companies will have to use pipelines instead to trucks to transport increased production when their EIA expansions are approved. So Connacher isn't alone in what it is doing.
Best Wishes; Scott
