We need to address the entirety of the way trading is accomplished today. Todays issue of a mistaken order as to both price and volume on a Procter & Gambel order not only was an egregious error ( if it really was an error) but, kicked off "programmed trading" that caused a 1,000 point drop in the DOW literally with a speed beyond even the comprehension of a human. We have become slaves and obedient docile servants to the GD computer. What do we say to the person that just got killed on a "Stop Loss" set 5% below when PG just got sold out at a price 50% below the market? And all accomplished in a nano second. The computer acts in a nano second and investors collectively say Oh &&&&, what happened now? It is time to reclaim the sanctity of the individual and put the computer and its programmed trading back in its cage. An aide, yes. The master? Absolutely not!! What better example do we need of this than what happened today?
