Hi Brian & B-Jay;
I wouldn't be surprised if Rosneft the Russian national oil company (or should I say Rostheft) were to take advantage of BP's current situation in order to buy out BP's position in the Sakhalin V project in Russia. http://www.bp.com/sectiongenericarticle.do?categoryId=9009632&contentId=7018810
In additon, Rosneft could also buy out BP's 49% share of TNK-BP http://www.tnk-bp.com/operations/exploration-production/ in order to get BP out of Russia for good or it has the financial clout to launch an outright take over of BP. I don't see the Chinese national oil company launching a bid to take over all of BP. Do you think that the Russian's would allow the Chinese national oil company to buy the Sakhalin V project or TNK-BP? I don't.
Cheers; Scott
