Message: Greek premier abandons referendum

With the threat of that referendum he managed to get the Greek people on the streets to really think about what they were protesting about and what their options really were. They united in shock against Merkel and Sarkozy saying they would walk away from Greece, if the people didn't want to remain in the Eurozone. He forced the opposition to work with him and form a coalition government set up to approve the austerity measures and stay in the Eurozone. He may have thrown himself under a bus, but in the end he did what was right for the country.

The Globe was reporting yesterday that he spent some time in high school in King City, Ontario.

Now on to Italy where Berlusconi has had to delay his latest CD release of love songs in order to concentrate on the financial crises. Somehow I don't think the world can count on Berlusconi to show the sort of resolve and leadership that Papandreou just showed.
