There are a couple of reasons. The contract must be completed and that means a BFS. Second, Stifel crowded the table. They probably made an offer to finance that can't be matched. While this doesn't preclude all the other players from making an attempt at that angle Stifel did mark their turf. They are connected to our guys social circle and that means a lot in this game.
To clarify. We are not talking about the crumbs (open shares). We are talking about billions over 20 years. The real money is made here and not riding the sp. There is a big difference. You do see the small teir houses buying. Oddly, very few of the mid-teir. I think that has more to do with the way they think and most of them do seem to invest their clients money in blue chips. On a side note did you see the batting averages for 2011 lol. Last year was an eye opener with most of them not even hitting 50%.
