Orc - you're correct, schaft creek is on the eastern side; its between the drier volacanic mt ediza plateau and the much damper galore creek area. Schaft Creek basically borders alongside mt ediza provincial park.

it is considered part of the coastal range, though more in the eastern region, and though drier, than western areas, it still gets considerable rain and snow.
