Copper seems to have jumped back to the top of the queue in terms of what Teck would buy, but we would caution that the asking prices for assets in the copper space are likely still high – given the robust price and consensus view that copper market fundamentals remain positive. That being the case, we would expect any copper opportunity to be measured carefully against the company’s current development projects as a use of capital.
