I found it interesting that they made the claim SC was worth more than GC, and that Teck did an aerial survey of the land inbetween. I wonder if Teck is thinking of buying out NovaGold? That would be a revealing valuation for us. It also might affect the timing because Teck would likely want to conduct both negotiations privately.
I did a quick search on GC valuation and came up with such a wide variable that it is pretty useless, however, NovaGold did say this in 2012: At the zero discount rate at which we believe North American assets may once again be rated, as they were not so long ago, that number rises to more than $19 billion. They managed to talk up a NPV (5%) at $547 million to that $19 billion figure, by casually waiving away all discounts and assuming a gold price of $2K.
