Hi Chunky, I don't believe anybody in business intentionally chooses courses of action that lead to failure, but I do know that people in business can make bad decisions with bad outcomes, even with the absolute best of intentions. Afterall we're all human.
My thoughts on decision making are this. Stellar management teams make decisions that people often look back in hindsight and say, "that was without a doubt, the best decision". With non-stellar management teams, people often look back in hindsight and say "it wasn't the best decision, but they believed it was the best decision at the time they made it". That is the key difference. Problem is, we as shareholders will likely never know what really transpired in the boardoom meetings. A moot point I guess. Have a good day.
