IMO the Canadian government, the BC government and the Tahltan government all need a project to be approved and to get into production.

So far Schaft Creek seems to be one that all can get behind.

I agree that Teck might want some sort of negotiated agreement before a production decision.

Here's some information from the Tahltan to their own community back in 2010. I don't have time to look for more recent information but this doesn't look like they opposed the project then and as far as we know nothing has changed.

Note that they met with Copper Fox and government representatives.

Schaft Creek Project

THREAT has participated in a number of working group meetings with Copper Fox and government representatives in 2010. Most recently, THREAT has been working with Copper Fox to develop a social-cultural impact assessment study that will become part of the environmental assessment application for the Schaft Creek project.

THREAT has reviewed the proposed outline for this study and has provided recommendations on the indicators that will be used. We also participated in community meetings for the Schaft Creek project in October.

THREAT presented to the community about the review process for the Schaft Creek project. We have also reviewed several process documents for the environmental assessment application including the application information requirements or AIR, which is used to as a guide for the content of the environmental assessment application, for the Schaft Creek project. Finally, we are also currently working on a Tahltan use study for the Schaft Creek Project.
