I looked up some too, seems that is is just for what you think it is for. To allow people to hide for playing games or to hide accumulation or dumping, anything I guess really that you want to hige.

Most brokers should be able to execute your trades as anon if you request (although that could mean you have to call in everytime for a trade depending on your broker).

I mean I get the transparency and fairness, but on the other hand it seems rather unfair and really only benifits people with larger amounts of capital. Although that shouldn't really surprise anyone.
