Thanks for your input, Lead Mare. I have generally been happy with Questrade. I know some here have complained about the company's margin call policy raking them over the coals, but I don't trade on margin so that has been of no consequence to me.
Two things that stick in my craw, however. I switched my cash account, RRSP and TFSA accounts to Questrade to get away from the extremely high fees at ScotiaMcLeod. Within days of my accounts all being transferred, I saw the promotion for 100 free trades for new accounts. I couldn't convince anyone at Questrade to let me in on the deal, having only missed it by a very short period.
As well, with the switch to the IQ platform, Questrade is now introducing a $19.95 fee per quarter for all dormant accounts. That's right, if you don't make a single trade in a quarter, you have to cough up $20! I do some trading within my cash account, but my TFSA and RRSP accounts have been sitting idle with CUU shares for several months now. I would hate to have to pay $40 combined for those two accounts if CUU doesn't reach buyout by September.
