IMHO... SC is a project that even the NPD can tolerate or even like. The NDP would need something to rally behind to justify quashing it (env, First Nations objection are the main points that would come to mind). The Tahltan appear to be on side and no significant environmental risks have appeared.
TCK, a BC home grown company, has quickly settled its contracts with its unions (think NPD political base) and is investing in BC. While mining in general might gasp at the NPD taking power, I dont see any political levarage for the NDP to apply against this project. The NDP are spenders so they will need the employment and tax base from safe projects like SC. If I was a Talhtan, I would have serious questions for any govenernment quashing a project in an area (Telegraph Creek, Dease Lake, and Terrace) so devoid of good employment opportunities.
The forest industry better look out for the NDP tho - probably more so than the miners... (log exports, decreased Annual Allowable Cut, stumpage, new Parks, and ... EBM - NDP favourites)
