Sorry np...should've posted the link.  What he was saying was that the MM would sell the price down during the day causing weak hands to fold and have his partner in crime place big trades after the close just above the asking price (but still at a bargain).  In this way the MM is able to accumulate shares cheaply....at least this is what I understood him to say. 

Anybody on this board that is 'trader savvy' please feel free to correct or clarify this type of manipulation.
