Caracas .- The president Hugo Chávez closed today the possibility of agreement with the international group Ternium on payment for the nationalization of Siderurgica del Orinoco (Sidor), and announced that the government will assume all assets that have this consortium in the country and they will pay "at a pace that we can.''
Chavez ruled that his government will realize an agreement with Ternium on Sidor, the country's largest steel which was nationalized last May where the group had a stake of 60%, AP reported.
Ternium is an international group that has as a shareholder to Italian-Argentine conglomerate Techint.
"They have been arrogant and I say, so we must take all companies that they (Ternium) have to be here and the country'', said the agent, in a meeting with ministers at the presidential palace that was broadcast chain of radio and television.
Chavez indicated that the discrepancy arose with Ternium because they wanted to "sign a document guaranteeing immunity from any subsequent claim made by Sidor workers or any other sector of national life.''
"The time is over, so we proceed and we will pay what it costs that really, as well as they did not want to pay them once ... no, you will pay at the pace that we can pay''he added.
In mid-May Chavez officially decreed the nationalization of Sidor, but took control of the company a month later.
The Venezuelan State justified the takeover of Ternium Sidor arguing that refused to reach a settlement with the workers to sign a new collective contract.
Chavez acknowledged that one of the topics that generated differences with Ternium was the fact that the group `` were asking for four billion dollars''for his package in Sidor.
The government nationalized last week the cement sector as part of a process that has involved making the greatest phone, the electricity sector, the four associations of oil from the Orinoco Belt.
