All this sounds like it's very much a one sided deal, mostly in Russian's favor. The Russians get to "supply" all the stuff to an all to eager Chavez who will pay them of in oil because the Russians will put Venezuela into dept "for services rendered". Chavez get to do his "for the people" rhetoric without knowing what exactly he is getting Venezuela into.

The Russians are very astute political manoeuvres and are going to use Chavez to positioning themselves on the America Continent. Which strategically puts them in a better situation than being on the small island of Cuba.

Venezuela by it's geographical position offers far more opportunity for access to the USA for subversive action against it. One of the "articles" signed today says that Russians can come and go without a Visa. Can you imagine how the Russians will use that to their advantage.
