So why did the Russians require such assurances? Obviously they don't trust Chavez any more than we do!

Has anyone else noted the lack of announcements in respect to permits, deals etc. coming out of Russoro recently. There was a real flurry of "good news" about 6 months back but not a single peep out of them yet. If all those JVs and "preferred parten deals" had been set in stone, I would have expected some "exciting" PR out of RML, but instead, silence. Maybe being "preferred" by Hugo isn't such a great thing!
