ALBA: currency and arbitration center in Summit

At least five agents and representatives of member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the peoples of our America (ALBA) meet on 16 and 17 October in Cochabamba to make decisions on economic and environmental.

Noteworthy among the topics on the agenda of the seventh summit of the bloc, launching its own currency, which serves to trade and the creation of an international arbitration tribunal to replace the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes ( ICSID), World Bank.

Under the slogan "Dawn of the Peoples", the presidents of Cuba, Raúl Castro, of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, who until last Friday confirmed their attendance, and host Evo Morales, who also chair the summit will be attended by representations of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda and Dominica Honduras to complete with member countries of ALBA.

The Government stated that it is possible the arrival of President Fernando Lugo of Paraguay and guests from Uruguay, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Russia as observers.

Cochabamba awaits the arrival of at least about 2 thousand people between the delegations of the NATO countries and of those attending parallel events: the first Summit of Councils of Social Movements of the ALBA-TCP (Treaty of Commerce for the People) and the Meeting comprising a productive complementarity Exhibition and Business Roundtable.
