The National Assembly -- dominated by members of Chavez's ruling Socialist Party -- was set to approve the controversial "Enabling Law" giving the socialist leader yearlong decree powers late on Thursday or on Friday.

This is all contrary to the idea put forth that the Venezuelan Government is now shut down thru the hollidays.

Seems like business could transpire between now and when a new National Assembly convenes on January 5 (if someone wanted it to).
