You may be right, but those capitalist pigs have a "partnership" with the Chinese. If he screws KRY isn't he also screwing the Chinese?

No, because KRY does not have a partnership with the Chinese. They have a proposed JV that has not yet been made into a legal partnership because Chavez refuses to grant the permit. So far the Chinese have only loaned KRY a couple of million. That's lunch money to them.

By screwing KRY Chavez doesn't screw the Chinese because the Chinese have no skin in the game. If the permit comes through, great. If not, no problem. The Chinese just move on to another mine in another country.

If the Chinese REALLY wanted Las Cristinas (and they felt 100% certain Chavez would grant the permit) they could have easily offered KRY between 1-2 dollars and I believe the majority of the shareholders would have accepted that offer. The Chinese have the smarts and money to build the mind themselves. It's maybe easier with KRY on board but not needed.

A couple of things are clear to me:

The Chinese clearly have less power to move Chavez than Fung thought they had.

Fung should have filed for arbitration years ago when the permit was denied AFTER we had acted in good faith by paying the bond and taxes for the permit. We would probably still be "in high level talks" with the Vennies but, I believe, those talks would be more in our favor since the arbitration meter would be running.

Even though KRY as told me, if the mine is built, there will be zero KRY signage onsite at LC, that's not enough for Chavez. It appears he simply refuses to give KRY what it wants because A, He hates all things North American. B, He hates KRY for some personal political reason. C, KRY didn't pay off the right people. D, Chavez is an insane coca-leaf chewing asshole. E, All of the above.

Take your pick.
