(Kitco News) - The silver contract on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange posted record volume trade in its Tuesday session, the CME Group said on Wednesday, with the new record a 57% increase over the former high.
Silver saw a record volume of 201,216 contracts traded, easily surpassing the previous record of 127,890 contracts set on Dec. 30, 1976. Silver futures prices had an extremely wide range on Tuesday with a high of $29.340 an ounce to $26.415 an ounce.
